In my last post, I told you about the impending launch of Geek Crusade – a brand new site for geeks in the Asia-Pacific. It will cover the latest movie, TV and comics news, and organise geek events such as the Singapore Zombie Walk.
It all kicks off with a massive geek pilgrimmage to the USA. Our first stop comes on July 12 – Rancho Obi-Wan in Sonoma County, California, which houses the world’s largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia.
Housed in a former chicken ranch, it’s a 9,000 sq ft facility, with 300,000 items. It’s all the brainchild of former Wall Street Journal reporter and Lucasfilm employee Steve Sansweet, dubbed by George Lucas as “the ultimate fan”. And Steve has kindly agreed to take some time out of his busy schedule to speak to us too! After he leads us on a group tour of the place…
If you want to know what else is inside Rancho Obi-Wan, then check out Geek Crusade from July 11 for more details and our interview with Steve Sansweet.
I’ll be posting a small snippet on our trip every day from now till July 10, so watch this space for more details on the next leg of our trip. It’s the biggest geek trip ever!
Look out for the official launch of Geek Crusade on July 11. For the moment, you can sign up on the website for your chance to win exclusive premiums. Follow us on Twitter too @GeekCrusade, as we tweet and blog and Facebook our way across some of the USA’s geekiest sites!
